Devils Slip At Bridgeport 3-0
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Albany Devils surrendered two second period goals and an additional one in the third, falling to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 3-0. The loss Monday at Webster Bank Arena marked only the second shutout against the Devils this season.
Unfortunately for Albany, the setback came against a Bridgeport team that was just three points ahead entering the day. The Devils are 24-20-5-2, while the Sound Tigers improves to 28-18-3-2. Bridgeport is now 16-1-0-1 since the new year.
Goaltender Jeff Frazee, who was coming off his second shutout of the season, tied a season high with 35 saves. He made 11 saves in the first, 11 in the second and 13 in the third.
Offensively, the Devils failed to convert on six power plays, including a 5-on-3 chance and a full five-minute opportunity.
Bridgeport received scoring from Kael Mouillierat at 4:03 of the second and Blair Riley at 15:17 of the same period.
Sean Backman capped the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 7:23 of the third.
Anders Nilsson earned the shutout win by making 26 saves.
